　　本片按照1998年的法国电影《Le Diner de Cons》改编而成。
　　蒂姆·瓦格纳（保罗·路德 Paul Rudd 饰）为了奉迎下属，从而顺遂升职，加入了一个被称为"痴人之宴"的活动，目标就是成功的寻觅到一个完善的同伴共赴晚饭，届时看谁的同伴是痴人中的痴人。蒂姆找来了看上去很傻的国税局雇员巴里（史蒂夫·卡瑞尔 Steve Carell 饰）担任他的同伴，去竞选阿谁"痴人之最"的称号，以便逗乐老板。可是，那里想到，鬼使神差的工作发生了，巴里虽然确切痴人，可是却意外的让蒂姆的老板一样出丑，在这场晚宴制造了不小的风浪，蒂姆该若何结束？到底谁才是实在的痴人极品？
