　　刚刚落空母亲的阿梅（温明娜 饰）加入了一场集会。集会上的成员都是母亲在世时的好友及其女儿。阿梅坐在之前母亲的位置陪着阿姨们搓麻将。牌桌上的四人，各色性情，而背后也各有其心酸和奋斗的故事。林多（周采芹 饰）阿姨的精明和强韧让她摆脱童养媳的身份，奋斗到明天 的位置；莺莺（俞飞鸿 饰）阿姨有一段不胜回首的往事，是以希望自己的女儿要勇敢的做自己；安美（卢燕 饰）阿姨受其母亲（邬君梅 饰）的影响，晓得要学会在不公允的命运眼前发声；而阿梅的母亲（Kieu Chinh 饰）则迫于战乱，和骨血走失。几位女性均从困苦中走过来，历经人生的考验，不希望自己的女儿反复自己的悲剧。一出中国女性的故事被娓娓道来。
