　　已经，拿破仑（马龙·白兰度 Marlon Brando 饰）爱上了名为黛丝蕾（简·西蒙斯 Jean Simmons 饰）的美丽少女，随着时候的推移，黛丝蕾对拿破仑的爱意日益加深，甚至不惜献出大量金钱帮助这个她最爱的汉子。但是，拿破仑很快就发现，黛丝蕾并不能帮助自己实现自己在政治范畴的野心，转而起头追求名媛约瑟芬（梅尔·奥勃朗 Merle Oberon 饰），悲愤交集的黛丝蕾怀揣着一颗破裂的心成为了伯纳达将军（迈克尔·伦尼 Michael Rennie 饰）的妻子。
　　以后，拿破仑一步登天终极到达了权利的颠峰，而伯纳达将军则率军公然否决拿破仑的统治。莫斯科一役后，败北的拿破仑被放逐到了荒岛之上但是野心不死，黛丝蕾出头劝说，希望已经的爱人可以放弃战争，接管放逐。
