　　平安专家托马斯·杰克曼（阿德连·保罗 Adrian Paul 饰）受命前往撒哈拉沙漠要地的阿夫特拉山钻探区。这里曾是一个自然气开采站，以后烧毁并被多国研讨职员接手停止地下勘察与科研工作，旨在寻觅新的嗜热生命体。未几前，一场微弱的沙尘暴囊括此地，钻探站随即与外界落空联系。 托马斯来到这里，发现25名工作职员全数失落，墙上留有用血液写就的阿拉伯文。他仔细翻阅研讨职员们留下的材料，却始终一无所获。正当他的工作堕入窘境时，自称小组研讨员的詹妮·克里斯迪亚森（凯特·诺塔 Kate Nauta 饰）忽然出现。从詹妮的口中得知，研讨小组的成员早已相继古怪灭亡……
