　　数月前的一场变乱，让侦察迈克尔（威尔·华莱士 Will Wallace 饰）及其妻子瑞秋（艾米丽·布鲁克斯 Emily Brooks 饰）落空了他们心爱的女儿。在此以后，夫妻关系相持不下，低至冰点，许是为了重获进步的勇气，他们从喧哗的旧金山搬到了为山岭森林环抱的格林伍德湾小镇，迈克尔则在当地谋得差人的职务。刚刚搬来的第二天，一路失落案便牵扯了迈克尔的履历。小镇上有一栋历史悠久的屋子，传闻在20世纪80年月，名叫玛莎的女子被魔鬼附体，酿成悲剧，今后这栋屋子就成了著名的鬼屋。胆小包天的青年男女内森（Payton Wood 饰）和女友苏茜（Abigail Cooper 饰）趁夜潜入时代，可是终极苏茜着落不明，内森也变得呆呆傻傻。迈克尔想方想法查明真相，而无意间接近了鬼屋的瑞秋似乎也进入一个可骇而可怕的黑洞。
