　　来自豪陆的杀手李强（周润发 饰）单身来到了美国，为了将还在故乡的母亲和妹妹接来美国一家团圆，无法之下他只好向纽约曼哈顿唐人街的黑帮老迈魏师长乞贷。此时，魏师长的儿子由于在毒品买卖中回避差人而意外坠楼身亡，李强恰好成了魏师长复仇的棋子。                                    
                                李强被派去杀戮履行此次缉毒行动的负责人斯坦警官和他的家人，当他发现斯坦警官的儿子年仅7岁时，对家人的悬念令他怎样也下不了手。行动失利后，不但李强的生命遭到了威胁，连他原在大陆的家人也面临杀身之祸。为了逃回故乡拯救家人，李强和魏师长派来的杀手展开了一场角力！
