　　两个青年女子之间的亮相性心理致使了其中一个被害，而凶手就是别的一位姑娘。尔后，她便被软禁一间修道院中。探长前来侦询，律师也前来观察案情。但探长并非在影片首尾出现的阿谁探长，律师又与被害者是同一个。所以，这桩凶杀案能否真的发生过，能否真的是这位杀手所为，都是不愿定的。需要由观众自行思考。本片是导演罗布一格里叶继《穿越欧洲的快车》后，自编自导的影片。也是他的第一部彩色影片。影片中的框架非常简单。                                       
                                    影片把今世的心理变态同修道院内里世纪的心理变态作了对照性描画，从而夸大题目标历史深度。但对所探讨的题目，作者并非表白自己的态度，只是客观的赐与表示，在形式上，此片利用了纯化的手段，画面上的时空变得中性而笼统。对白很少，没有隐约，全凭画面，色彩和剪辑的视觉结果表达涵义。此片与《客岁在马里昂巴德》有主题上的类似之处，但更少情况影响，更多打仗及人的赋性，因此更加笼统。...
