　　圣诞节将至，某市殖民银行分行的员工正在严重忙碌，同时全新期待节日的到来。该行负责人福德斯（皮特·科辛 Peter Cushing 饰）是个严厉呆板、看待部属甚至家人都极为刻薄的汉子。此日早晨，福德斯迎来一位不速之客，对方宣称是家庭与奇迹保险公司的官员，被称作赫本上校（安德烈·莫瑞尔 André Morell 饰）。福德斯对其必恭必敬，惟恐违逆了这名严厉而声张的官员。但他未几便得知，赫本本来是一个银行大盗。赫本似乎挟持了福德斯的妻儿，并以她们的生命平安勒迫福德斯交出银行现有的9万7千美金。为了庇护妻儿，一向狂妄的福德斯只得垂头，成了赫本的同犯……
