　　战后德国趋向苏醒，汉斯（弗兰茨·罗戈夫斯基 饰）却由于同性恋行为，从集合营被间接被转送到牢狱继续服刑。由于刑法典第175条认定"同性恋是一种罪行"。他对爱与自在的渴望，虽遭到了摧毁，但他生射中最深入一段豪情，竟来自他的狱友－杀人犯维多（格奥尔格·弗里德里希 饰）。                                       
                                    由于被归类为「175」，汉斯一到牢狱，就遭到维多的鄙夷。原本互看不扎眼的两人，因共处一室而逐步熟悉。擅长刺青的维多，自动帮汉斯退去原罪，去除烙在他身上的纳粹编码。而当维多出错，汉斯也代他被关禁闭，让维多心生感激。两人不但学会尊重相互，而且成了知己。此时，汉斯在狱中也碰到了挚爱奥斯卡（托马斯·普伦 饰），这份爱因而成了他在狱中的唯一安慰，直到刑满出狱…                                       
                                    由于没法放弃做自己，汉斯未几又由于同性恋行为再度入狱，高墙与电网成了他人生永无止尽的循环。当他与维多在狱中再次相遇时，这两个频遭社会抛弃羞辱...
