　　茉莉（歌蒂·韩 Goldie Hawn 饰）原本是小镇女子田径队的教练，在和丈夫弗兰克（詹姆斯·基彻 James Keach 饰）仳离以后，性情倔强的茉莉单独抚养着两个孩子。一天，茉莉遭到了艾德瓦斯师长（Nipsey Russell 饰）的约请，来到中心高中，成为了那边的橄榄球队“野猫队”的教练，虽然弗兰克对于茉莉的挑选很是的不支持，可是茉莉还是深信自己可以胜任。
　　
　　让茉莉没有想到的是，“野猫队”的队员们确确实在是一群难以管束的小野猫，她们不但毫无构造纪律性，而且对橄榄球这项活动早已经落空了爱好。在履历了开初的磨合后，茉莉帮助队员们找回了希望，“野猫队”在校队间的角逐中大放光彩。
